さっそくですが、子ども乗せ電動自転車を買う前に確認したほうがいいことってありますか？

私たちがおうかがいするのは、使用方法とか１日あたりの走行距離です。1回の充電で走れる距離があるので、それにあわせてご案内しています。

例えば自宅から保育園までの距離とかですか？

そうですね。「家から園まで何分くらいでつきます」と言っていただけるとご案内しやすいです。子ども乗せ自転車だと、１日多くても片道４kmくらい、大体20分くらい使う方が多いです。1日あたりの使用時間がこれくらいであれば、週に1回程度の充電で問題ありません。

バッテリーは使い切ったほうがいいですか？

バッテリーがゼロになってしまうと傷みやすいので、2～3割残った状態での充電をおすすめしています。
電動自転車によってバッテリー容量は異なりますが、どの車種も4～5時間程度でフル充電できる場合が多いそうです。

置き場所はどうしたらいいですか？ うちはガレージに置いているんですが……。

電動自転車自体は雨ざらしでも問題ないです。錆びにくいパーツが使われているので、雨に濡れてモーターが壊れる、なんてことはありません。

そうなんですね！ 意外です！

ただ錆びやすいチェーンや紫外線で劣化するグリップなどのパーツもあるので、屋根があるところで保管したほうが安心です。

屋根のついた場所でのが保管が難しい家庭は自転車カバーがあったほうがいいですか？

そうですね。ただずっとカバーをかけていると湿気で車体が傷むこともあるので、晴れている日は外してもらったほうがいいですね。

スイッチ自体はゴムのシールが貼ってあるので防水なんですが、ぶつけると表面が剥がれて水が入ることがあるんです。ほかにも、スイッチのボタンに爪が当たって穴が空いたり。

想像できます……。

スイッチを交換すると１万円以上かかるんですよ。スイッチカバーは1200円前後でそうしたトラブルを防げるので、購入をおすすめしています。

ほかにも、自転車メンテナンスに欠かせない錆止め剤やサドルが盗まれないためのサドルワイヤー錠、パンクを防ぐシーラント剤などを教えてもらいました。気になるアイテムがあれば購入時に店員さんへ相談してみるのもよさそうです。

子どもを前乗せするときに、他と比べてチャイルドシートをつける位置が低くなってるんです。チャイルドシートの座席の位置が低くなることでお子さんの頭の位置も下がるので、運転中でも前が見やすいです。

本当だ！ これなら子どもの様子が見えやすいし、重心も低くなるから運転しやすそうですね。

モーター部分もこだわっています。子ども乗せ電動自転車の多くは、自転車のチェーンをアシストするような形になっていますが、エナシスベビーではペダルと繋がっているクランク軸の回転をモーターが直接アシストする「PLUS-D」を採用しています。ペダルを踏んだ力を直接アシストするので、力強く滑らかに走行できます。

電動自転車って、踏み込んだ後にちょっと遅れて時間差でぐーんと進むような、後ろから押されているような感覚があるんですけれど、それが少ないってことですか？

そうですね。このシステムはスポーツタイプの電動自転車に多く採用されていて、反応がいいんですよ。

なるほど〜。急発進にならないのは安心ですね。

あとはスタンド。鍵がかかった状態だと、スタンドが動かせないツーロックシステムを採用しています。鍵をかけたまま発進しようとすると、車輪のスポーク（車輪の中心から放射線状に伸びている部品）が鍵に当たって曲がってしまうんです。
